When should I have Acupuncture to support my fertility?
Assisted Conception
-
Ideally, treatment should begin 3 months before your first cycle, including egg collection, to optimise egg quality and overall health.
-
Between egg collection and transfer, acupuncture helps build your reserves, thicken your womb lining, and manage any side effects from egg collection.
-
Specific acupuncture protocols are used both pre- and post-transfer, within a 24-hour period, to support implantation.
-
During the two-week wait before your pregnancy test, acupuncture can gently regulate your nervous system to ease anxiety.
-
After a positive test, acupuncture can be safely used throughout pregnancy to maintain well-being, manage symptoms, and prepare you for delivery.
Natural Conception
You don’t have to be on the IVF pathway to benefit from acupuncture for fertility. Regular weekly treatments for 3 months can support natural conception.
-
Your first treatment includes a thorough history, which informs a personalised treatment plan, with advice to enhance your diet and lifestyle—key factors in optimising fertility.
-
Whether or not you have an underlying condition affecting your fertility, acupuncture can support hormonal balance and address any imbalances, potentially increasing your chances of conception and possibly avoiding the need for IVF.
Male Fertility
It’s often assumed that prolonged attempts to conceive are due to female factors, but around 30% of infertility cases are due to male factors.
-
Evidence shows that acupuncture can improve sperm motility and morphology, and therefore sperm health. Sperm health is crucial to a viable pregnancy- this may seem obvious, but it cannot be overstated!
How else can I support you?
With my previous work as a doctor, a first-class degree in Reproductive Medicine from Imperial College London, and additional training in Acupuncture for Fertility and Pregnancy, I bring significant expertise to each of your treatments. Your fertility journey may not be linear, but with its potential ups and downs, I’ll remain a constant, helping you navigate each step as it comes.
